Passau - Vienna - individual tour
Description
Day 1:
Individual sightseeing-tour in the “three river town” Passau. At 12.00 o’clock you can listen to an organ concert (except on Sundays and public holidays) on the largest church organ of the world in the cathedral. In Passau you start cycling at the southern side of the Danube until Engelhartszell where you can find the only Trappist monastery in Austria. In Engelhartszell you cross the Danube by ferry or over the power plant Jochenstein (situated 1 km in front of Engelhartszell) to the northern side.
Day 2:
The first highlight of the landscape is the famous Schlögen Danube loope. Then you cycle through the villages Aschach, Wilhering and Ottensheim to Linz. Linz is the capital of Upper Austria. You have enough time for a stroll through the enchanting old town with its interesting sights.
Day 3:
You leave Linz and go on cycling via Mauthausen or Enns, the oldest town of Austria, to Wallsee. Via Ardagger you reach the beautiful old bargee town Grein. Here is the start of the Strudengau. You can see the castle, the oldest municipal still playing theatre and the maritime museum.
Day 4:
Today you cycle through the Strudengau on the southern side of the Danube to the old Roman town Ybbs where you cross the Danube on the dam of the power station
Ybbs-Persenbeug. You reach Marbach by riding through the Nibelungengau. Past Marbach the pilgrimage centre of Maria Taferl greets from the hills
Day 5:
First you ride through Klein Pöchlarn and then you cycle on the dam until the power station Melk. This town is the highlight of the day because you can visit the wonderful baroque Benedictine convent which is situated on a high rock above the Danube. In Melk there is the beginning of the most popular part of the Danube, the Wachau – well known for its wines.
Day 6:
Natural and cultural attractions will surprise and impress you again and again. Through some traditional small villages of the Wachau you reach the best known town of this area – Dürnstein, where Richard the Lion Heart was once taken captive. Soon you will arrive in Krems, the end of the Wachau. There you cross the Danube again and ride to Traismauer or to Tulln.
Day 7:
Today you ride the last part of this journey. You cycle to the capital of Austria, Vienna. Before you reach Vienna you see numerous garden and weekend settlements and the well known Augustinian canon convent Klosterneuburg. The bike-path ends only a few minutes away from the cathedral of St. Stephans, the landmark of Vienna.

The individual tour Schärding/Passau – Vienna can be started every day from April 1st to October 31st.
Arrival and parking possibilities:
Passau:
If you want to come to Passau we meet you at the train station at 10 o´clock where you get your bikes and the last information. In Passau we cannot provide any parking spaces.
Schärding:
It´s better to come to Schärding where our company is situated. You can arrive until
12 o´clock and we welcome you in our office. There you receive the bikes and the last information about the journey. Directly at our office we offer you free parking places where you can park your cars during the trip. We can also offer you garages in Schärding. The fee amounts to € 8,--/day. From Schärding to Passau there is a wonderful bike-path along the Inn. (17 km).
If you come by train:
You can reach Schärding easily by train (via Passau by regional train).
We will draw your attention to the fact that there is no overnight in Schärding or Passau included. Naturally you can book some additional nights.
Luggage transport:
We transport your luggage from hotel to hotel during the journey. The luggage transport begins in Passau or Schärding and fundamentally ends in Vienna.
End of the journey:
Please note, that your trip ends with the last cycling day – that means that there is no overnight in Vienna included. Of course you can book some additional nights in Vienna.

We would like to draw your attention to the fact that the price for renting a bike is not included. The price for renting a bike is € 50,-- for each tour.
Normally we provide 7-speed bikes with back pedalling brake. As we know that sometimes clients are used to go with free-wheel bikes we can also provide 21-speed bikes. Each bike has 2 small pannier bags.
