Itinerary

Description

Jan-Pol Incoming Tour Operator in Krakow presents:

Gdansk, the biggest and most important of the three-cities which constitute theTri-city metropolis is also one of the oldest in Poland - it already celebrated its millennium. Its tempestuous history covers the periods from when Teutonic Knights reigned, followed by incorporation into Prussia, finally becoming an Independent City after World War I. It is where World War II broke out and where the “winds of change“ started blowing in one of the Gdansk shipyards and the Solidarity movement was born. Gdansk, Sopost and Gdynia together create a centre of splendid cultural and scientific achievements, as well as haveing the delightful atmosphere of sea ports and seaside resorts, comparable to Copenhagen, Lubeck or The Hague. However each one of the three is different: Gdansk means history, culture and science; Sopot is more of a sea resort and Gdynia, the youngest is an example of urbanization concepts of the early 20th century. Gdansk, at the heart of the Three-city region, makes an ideal destination for a city break, and a good base for discovering the northern part of Poland as well as Russian Kaliningrad.
Tricity tour
The city tour usually starts at the Old Town and follows the “King’s Way“, taking in the major sights including the 17th c. Golden Gate, Neptune’s Fountain, which is next to the late-Gothic Arthus Court, and the City Hall dating from the 14-15th c. The City Hall tower offers an opportunity to admire a spectacular view of the city. One of the most interesting buildings of old Gdansk is St. Mary’s Church - the largest Gothic church in Poland. The tour may continue to Sopot, Westerplatte, and Gdynia by car or by boat. The first enables you to stop in numerous places which are widely spread throughout the city. The second offers a fine view of the seafront. Next stop is Sopot and here enjoying the relaxing atmosphere of this spa resort it is easy to forget about the big city bustle. Stroll along the longest pier in Europe and have a coffee in one of the cafes. It will help to restore your energy to follow the route to Gdynia. The harbour here is home to many famous ships which can be visited, and the city is a major cultural center with the best music theatre in Poland and an excellent shopping center.
